A native of Taiwan, Pey-Wen attended elementary and junior high school in Taipei before immigrating to the United States with her family at 14.
Pey-wen developed her interest in wine through her love of food. As an avid cook, she is constantly exploring, experimenting and learning about flavors, ingredients and techniques of the different cuisines. Once she was introduced to wine, she has been applying the same enthusiasm in her learning and research into the world of wine.
Pey-Wen has been drinking and collecting wine since the mid-90's. In 2003, she decided to pursue a more formal and in depth learning experience and attended the WSET advanced classes in Philadelphia. After receiving the award of distinction on the exam, she eventually decided to continue her wine education with the WSET Diploma courses. At the same time, she started to work part time in various local wine shops to learn about the wine business and gain hands on experience.
After receiving her WSET Diploma certificate in 2010, Pey-Wen began teaching the WSET classes in Philadelphia. In March 2011, she attended the WSET educator training course in New York and became a WSET certified educator and assessor. In the summer of 2013, Pey-Wen decided to further her wine education and applied to be a student of the Masters of Wine program. She was accepted and is currently enrolled in the Masters of Wine program.
Pey-Wen's favorite wine regions are Spain and Germany and she served as the Media Director and writer for a Spanish wine importer from 2012 to 2013. She regularly travels to wine regions in both Europe and the US and she is also very interested in the art of food and wine pairings.
